Clarity

I had a somewhat innocuous conversation this past week with a friend. In the greater scheme of things it was more of a “housekeeping” exchange or a “thought you should know.” What was fascinating about it was that with no notice or warning it brought a wrecking ball straight at a wall I had created within myself and smashed it open. A dam I had created over the years was completely breached and a torrent of sadness came pouring out, splashing all over me and anyone unlucky enough to be standing too close. The depth of sorrow was amazing. It took two days to clear out everything behind that rock hard wall, but it is lovely to be on the other side. As I was being carried along in the flood of stored memories I found myself fighting it, but then realized I could relax and go with the flow and see where it was taking me. I am still drying off, but it was one heck of ride and I am grateful. Then this morning I opened my meditation book, “Going in to Find Out,” and was presented with this which put everything in perspective. May it give you some………..

CLARITY

Do you feel that you see life clearly and honestly or does it sometimes seem as though you are looking at it through a fuzzy lens? Does life seem to be a mumble jumble of thoughts and events and occurrences that tumble along with no seeming pattern or purpose? Do you feel confused or overwhelmed by the events of your life?

Clarity is an easily attainable position in life. It requires only that you put aside the daily mumble jumble of living, the “what if’s” and the “could be’s” and “might have been’s” and see life is a simple path forward. Now a simple path does not mean an “easy” path or one that is not filled with detours and rough roads and even pitfalls, but it is a straight path forward even if it meanders.

Clarity comes when you take the time to sit with silence. The difficult part for most people is that you have so much chatter in your heads. Your lives are much filled with conversations and thoughts both external and internal. You may ask for the answers, but then you do not have the patience to wait for the questions to be answered. You want instant gratification rather than waiting for the answers to unfold. Fear is a big part of this process. Fear that the answers will not come or that they will not match what you hope and dream for and therefore while you may ask for the answers you also do not want to hear them.

Clarity is about simplicity. It is “less is more” in many ways. Let us say that you are currently experiencing some difficulty or troubling time. Do you sit quietly in meditation and gather strength from the silence and the healing provided or do you rush pall mall about talking about the problem, worrying over the problem and living with the problem? Your life continues to happen in a reasonably placid manner while this problem occupies some of your space. Do you pull your attention from the rest of life to feed the problem? Do you treat friends and family with anxiety and concern or do you attempt o put your concerns aside and be present in the moment with them. You might find great sustenance from the peace you find with other people not so intimately involved with your concerns for they have a perspective that is about life moving forward. Worry puts you back in the eddy of life. You stay stuck with the worry and upset.

Take a few moments today to think of something that is causing you upset. Take a few breaths and sit in the quiet. As your concerns come up to the surface allow them to bubble away, do not follow them, just allow. Try not to worry or get upset, just allow your Self these few minutes without chatter in your head. Then as you return from the quiet try to carry a piece of it with you or the “Peace” of it with you for the rest of the day, for the more you quiet your mind, the greater clarity you will receive. Your life is a beacon that is calling you forward. Look for the light, for the guidance and strength.

We leave peacefully.
